Enroll in Winter Camp + Steppin' Out November News

We've really enjoyed this past month of learning our special Halloween dances in class. This seasonal tradition is not only fun, but a great exercise in remembering choreography. Believe it or not, we are already laying the groundwork for our year-end performance pieces. We'll then spend time this month and next learning more challenging dance steps that will later be incorporated into choreography for the performance, when all this hard work will pay off on stage.

MOVEMENT OF THE MONTH: GALLOP
Now that we've mastered walking backward, have your child try a movement with a partner. Galloping is a great skill to master in tandem. Ask your child to take your hands and move sideways at a healthy clip. Don't forget to vary the direction--most kids are dominant on one side and won't try the other without a little encouragement. By requiring grace even during energetic movement, galloping teaches balance and control, all with a healthy dose of fun.

QUICK TIP:
Have a costume from last year hanging in your child's closet? Don't let it gather dust--your children are welcomed and encouraged to wear them any week to class. And don't forget that this week, 10/28-11/1, dancers may wear their Halloween costumes to the studio as well.
