Dress Rehearsal & Performance Update + May News

This is it! We are in our last month of practice before the big day. You may have noticed how great all the dancers are looking in their classes, but it's not over yet. Please try your best to bring your dancers to the studio each week as our upcoming practice sessions are critical for them to refine their dances and gain confidence to perform on stage. And don't forget to invite your friends and family to the performance--there are fliers at the front desk for you to pass along. Also, please check the dress rehearsal schedule below as on Saturday, 5/31 all dancers will practice in costume at Everett Middle School (and the Steppin' Out space will be closed the entire day as we'll all be at Everett). Finally, there will be class the week of June 3nd-7th, including Saturday, June 7th, held in our usual Steppin' Out location, leading up to the performances Saturday night (teens and young adults) and Sunday afternoon (all dancers). And of course our regular classes will continue through the entire month of June before our summer closure for July and August. But don't worry--our 2014-2015 season will begin anew in early September!

MOVEMENT OF THE MONTH: TAKE A BOW
In just about a month, your little dancers will be facing stage lights and curtains as they debut the dances they've put so much time and energy into learning. After we finally see their grand performances, we'll want to show them how much we appreciated them...but are your dancers ready to take a bow? A graceful dancer's bow is not hard to learn, but it does require practice. Have your dancer stand nice and tall with two feet together and then bend at the hips, sweeping both hands back. Some classes may be using the curtsey instead of the bow. For this, dancers place one foot behind the other and sweet both arms gracefully behind them. Advanced dancers may drop their heads during their bow and can practice maintaining balance during this moment. Practicing at home is not only fun, it also helps our dancers get ready for their big moments.
