STEPPIN' OUT PEFORMANCE SCHEDULE:
As in previous years, Steppin' Out's Annual performance will be held at Everett Middle School; however, this year the studio will divide in half so that each performance is one hour and fifteen minutes maximum. Here's how the performances are scheduled:
-All Saturday classes will perform on Saturday, June 6th at 11:00 a.m.
-All advanced students (Saturday 10 a.m. back studio, 11 a.m. back studio, 12:00 noon front and back studio plus Tuesday 5 p.m. front studio, Wednesday 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. back studio, and Thursday 5 p.m. front studio) will ALSO perform on Saturday, June 6th at 4 pm
-All Weekday classes will perform on Sunday, June 7th at 4 pm
Now that we are capping the performance time, we are asking all audience members to remain for the duration of the performance (rather than leaving after their own child has finished). This will give every student on stage the benefit of a quiet, respectful and supportive audience and will also give all the dancers a chance to be a part of the finale and take one last bow on stage as a group.

PARTICIPATION FEE/NO MORE TICKETS!
If you've ever been stuck in the long, long line waiting to be admitted into the auditorium for the performance, you'll be excited to hear that this year Steppin' Out will be introducing a new model of funding to cover the cost of the theater rental. Instead of asking each audience member to buy a ticket, we'll have a simple, modest performance "fee" per dancer that will allow you to bring as many audience members as you'd like without any tickets at all. The participation fee will be $25 fee per student ($10 second performing sibling, $5 third [or beyond] performing sibling). That means all guests, family and friends get in FREE to the performances! The performance fee is per-student, so if you are performing in more than one show you only pay one participation fee. Participation fees are due no later than March 31st. As always, if any charges present a financial hardship, please see Angela.
MOVEMENT OF THE MONTH: HEADSTAND/TRIPOD:
MOVEMENT OF THE MONTH: HEADSTAND/TRIPOD:
Appropriate for students five years and older unless they have neck problems, the tripod (sometimes referred to as the pumpkin) strengthens core muscles while relieving stress and increasing blood flow. Plus it's a lot of fun! Start sitting on your knees and then place your hands flat on the floor shoulder-distance apart. The top of your head should make the tip of the triangle when placed on the ground (rugs or thin blankets are ok for padding of the head but please no pillows or beds). Once your "base" is solid, slowly lift your hips over your shoulders and as you tighten your core and lift your knees onto your elbows.
More advanced students can try a full headstand. Follow the same beginning steps as for tripod, but extend the legs upward to a full headstand pose. Make sure the body is aligned straight up and down and the hips are over the shoulders.
